Deep Meditation Tips

Meditation is an incredible skill that is difficult to master. For many of us, keeping our minds blank and thoughtless is only possible for two rounds of breathing, until our thoughts start coming back again. The art of meditation, although complex, is something we can all accomplish with practice and good guidance.

In this blog, we share some good deep meditation tips that can help enhance your practice with the help of aromatherapy.

1. Affirm your intention

Before you start your meditation, say your intention for the session out loud just to yourself. Simply saying how long you’re going to meditate for,  that you intend to think of nothing during this time and actively asking your mind to quiet will prepare your mind and body into deep, undisturbed meditation.

Frankincense, Lemon Myrtle and Cedarwood (included in the Inner Balance Trio ) is are one of the best essential oils for yoga and meditation - you'll probably enjoy them. Place a few drops of each in your diffuser before your session to help focus and concentrate in your practice.

2. Set a positive mindset.

It might sound easier than it is. But having a joyful and content mind can make a meditation go a lot more smoothly since it is actively sending the message that there is no need to be restless and concerned.

Try to keep an positive mind by:

  • Naming a few things to be grateful for
  • Reminding yourself that you are taking time to grow and heal
  • Telling yourself that at this precise moment, everything is well and safe.

3. Don’t punish yourself for distractions

When meditating, anything can pretty much stir you away from focus. Whether it’s a mild breeze or an incoming thought about your to-do list, it can drive you away from meditation in an instant. But remember that meditation is an incredibly difficult task to master - it’s important to not criticize yourself for getting distracted, and rather be patient and understanding.

If you have a distracting thought, let it be with you by becoming aware of there being a distraction, and slowly try to come back to an open mind. There is no trouble if it doesn’t happen the first time nor the second - there will always be a next time.
